Memorial Site, Radzivilov, Ukraine

Commissioned Radzivilov Jewry
Scope 10 acres
Status Implemented, 2004

The site is situated in a forest, close to the town of Radzivilov, Ukraine. The structural elements surround the pits in which 4,200 of the town's Jews were murdered, creating a memorial space for the victims.

The gathering place, which faces the axes of the pits, enables the visitors to commune with the dead. The paths that disappear into the woods and the severed tree trunks emphasize the site's painful past.

The site includes the existing monument, a pyramidal hill , that blends into the new elements that were added to it.
