Entrance to the Town, Beit Shemesh

Public architectural competition, 2002
Description

The site plan offers a diverse fabric of functions that ties the various parts of town.
The town square – Kikar HaShemesh – is situated at the center of town and streets from the surrounding neighborhoods "flow" into it.

Parallel to the entrance road and close to the central park, a promenade connects the city gates hotel to Kikar Hashemesh.

An aqueduct bridges both sides of the wadi, allowing easy access to the public buildings at the center, and connecting to the architectural language of the covered passes that surround the main square.
