Apollonia Neighborhood, Herzliya
Second prize, competition, 2002
Scope
Approximately 3,000 housing units and public buildings
Description
The proposed plan north of Nof Yam, Herzliya, complements the urban fabric spanning between Haifa road, Nof Yam and the sea shore.
The neighborhood, at the attractive location by the sea shore and adjacent to the Apollonia archeological site, has a network of streets. The main street "flows" into the urban square, located on one end of a natural route that leads to the shore.
Apollonia's pavements blend with the neighborhood's unique texture: the central park merges with the diggings of the city wall and leads to the shore. The housing in the area is typically diverse: from the tall buildings by the road to low-built houses nearer to the archeological site.
